Sharon Osbourne remembers Ozzy Osbourne one year on from his death: “Yank up the music really loud”
Sharon Osbourne has instructed Ozzy Osbourne fans to “yank up the music really loud” to commemorate the first anniversary of his death.
On July 22nd, 2025, the Black Sabbath legend sadly died aged 78 due to a cardiac arrest, just weeks after the rock world came together to honour his legacy at Back to the Beginning at Villa Park in Birmingham.
The show, which took place nearby to Ozzy’s childhood home, also saw the original line-up of Black Sabbath reunite for the first time in more than 20 years.
For the one-year anniversary of his passing, Birmingham will stage Ozzy Day today (July 22nd), which will see the city come together to remember its favourite son.
Now, in a new radio interview with the BBC West Midlands, Sharon has said she wants people to “remember how funny he was – funny and charismatic and real” on the anniversary.
She added, “As Ozzy would say, ‘when you want to remember me, just yank up the music really loud, as loud as you can get it, and just head bang’.”
After praising her late husband for being “authentic”, Sharon added, “He never tried to be anything other than what he was, and he would tell you the truth about everything and that was him, you knew where you were with him.”
Notably, the final years of Ozzy’s life were marred by his battle with Parkinson’s, which Back to the Beginning raised money towards fighting, and Sharon has vowed, “We will continue that until we find a cure for Parkinson’s, because people don’t realise it’s more and more prevalent.”
In regards to the outpouring of love that Birmingham has given her family, Sharon has nothing but admiration for the city, stating, “This is the home of meta. It’s Ozzy’s home, it’s where he was born, what he loved and [Ozzy Day] wouldn’t work anywhere else.”
Additionally, Sharon and Ozzy’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, has also taken to Instagram to remember her late father, writing, “One year ago today, the world changed forever. Today, I sit here beside you in a way I never thought would be possible. I know you are still with me.”
She emotionally added, “I feel you in the quiet, in the wind, in every song that stops me in my tracks, is (sic) the smell of your cologne and in every moment that love outweighs grief. You are all around me.”
