Shane MacGowan’s widow pays heartfelt tribute

Shane MacGowan, the enigmatic frontman of The Pogues, passed away last month after succumbing to complications caused by pneumonia. On Christmas Day, which would have been his 66th birthday, MacGowan’s widow, Victoria Mary Clark, posted a heartfelt tribute to her late husband.

According to the details that have surfaced since the initial news about MacGowan’s hospitalisation, the legendary musician had been suffering from various health issues for a number of years. Earlier this year, he was admitted to an intensive care unit, but he was soon released.

However, another severe pneumonia contributed to MacGowan’s demise. At the age of 65, he passed away in his Dublin home while being surrounded by his loved ones.

Clark took to Instagram to remember the beloved icon while talking about the pain of getting through Christmas without her husband.

She wrote: “Today is really, really hard, much harder than I expected it to be. I just can’t stop crying, and I want to be with him so much it physically hurts. I don’t know how people get through this, but I do know that they do and people do feel joy even after they lose their person.”

Clark added: “Shane always said that even though he was born on Christmas Day, he was much more focused on it being Jesus’ birthday, and he felt like that was the most important thing about Christmas, so I am asking for Jesus and the angels to help me today.”
