Shakira announces landmark Great Pyramids of Giza concert
Shakira has announced a landmark show at the Great Pyramids of Giza, marking her first performance in Egypt in almost 20 years.
The ‘Whenever, Wherever’ singer has revealed that the show, presented by Venture Lifestyle, will take place on November 28th.
The Colombian pop icon last performed at the Pyramids in 2007, as part of her ‘Oral Fixation’ tour.
While making the announcement, the performer shared, “I’m very happy to be performing in Egypt, at the Pyramids of Giza. I love you all.”
This isn’t the only huge show that Shakira has ahead of her; on July 19th, she will perform at the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The 11-minute show has been curated by Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin; it will feature BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus and familiar faces from Sesame Street and The Muppets.
She previously performed at the beginning of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium.
The Pyramids have recently attracted many household names to the region to perform, including the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, John Legend, and Demi Lovato.
The performance will be in support of her latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, released in March 2024. The star subsequently won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.
Elsewhere, last month, Shakira spoke out against “fake” images of her circulating the internet, which fraudulently depicted her supporting Colombian presidential candidates.
“I do not support any candidate, nor have I authorised the use of my image in any campaign,” she shared at the time, reaffirming her commitment to “democracy” amidst the upcoming Colombian election.
This September and October, Shakira will also perform an 11-date residency in Madrid, Spain, at the custom-built Estadio Shakira, which has a capacity of 50,000.
