Sexual abuse lawsuit dropped against Interscope co-founder Jimmy Iovine

The sexual abuse lawsuit filed in 2023 against Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine has now been dropped.

In November, an anonymous woman, using the pseudonym of Jane Doe, registered the case with The State of New York County Supreme Court. The incident was filed under the New York City Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, which allowed the complaint to be made outside of the statute of limitations.

The alleged victim claimed she was “sexually abused, forcibly touched, and subjected to sexual harassment and retaliation” in an incident that she said occurred in August 2007.

However, Doe’s attorney, Doug Wigdor, filed a notice of discontinuance with prejudice on February 15th, bringing the suit to a permanent end.

In a statement provided to Rolling Stone, Wigdor said, “the matter was resolved to the satisfaction of the parties.”

Last November, following news of the lawsuit, representatives for Iovine claimed to be “shocked and baffled” by the case.

They continued: “This inquiry is the first we’ve heard of this matter. No one has ever made a claim like this against Jimmy Iovine, nor have we been contacted or made aware of any complaint by anyone, including this unknown plaintiff prior to now.”

Earlier this week, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs filed a legal defence denying any wrongdoing, after he was previously accused of raping a 17-year-old at a recording studio in 2003.

The rapper has taken the legal route, filing paperwork for the case to be dismissed. In the new documents, Combs claims to have “never participated in, witnessed, or was or is presently aware of any misconduct, sexual or otherwise, relating to plaintiff in any circumstance whatsoever”.

Iovine is yet to comment on the case being dropped.
