Secret Cinema launch immersive home film experience
London-based event, Secret Cinema, is launching their new immersive home film experience as the current coronavirus pandemic continues to extend strict social distancing measures.
While the organisation often hosts immersive experiences as a number of different secret locations, they will now be streaming from your sofa in a bid to help maintain a cinematic aspect to your social life.
The planned events will “bring a sense of play to your living room,” according to Secret Cinema CEO Max Alexander. The series, which will run every Friday for the next seven weeks, will begin this weekend with a screening of Wes Anderson film The Grand Budapest Hotel.
“We are going to transform your sofa into a time machine, a portal and a place of discovery and connection with the outside world,” Alexander added in a statement. “Secret Cinema is the master of surprises, so watch this space for other new and exciting initiatives.”
The initiative will see a email sent from the Secret Sofa on every Tuesday of the week which will detail the proposed plan. Within the email, details of all the tools required to “create your own pocket of this universe” will be included. “From character and costume suggestions to era-defining music and activities to food and drink ideas (and ice cream, obviously) – how far you go is up to you,” Secret Sofa explains.
“We have a range of events and explorations for you and your friends to hang out in. Friday night is film night, but let’s just say other surprises might come on other nights of the week. Forward this email to your mates and make sure they are signed up too so they can join in from their sofas.”
