Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ prison release date moved forward for the third time
The prison release date for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has now been moved forward for the third time since his original sentence was set.
The disgraced hip-hop mogul was sentenced to a 50-month prison term in July 2025 after being convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution following a lengthy trial in New York, although he was acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.
Despite this, Combs’ prison sentence has been steadily shortened over the time he has served so far, with his first initial release date having been set for June 4th, 2028.
However, over the past number of months, this has been moved forward to April 25th, 2028, then April 15th, 2028, before the Federal Bureau of Prisons has now announced that Combs is set to be released on February 23rd, 2028.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not explained the reason behind these date changes, but it is understood that Combs is undertaking a drug rehabilitation course at his prison, FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, where his lawyers appealed to send him due to its treatment facilities.
On top of this, although the former mogul’s prison release date has been continuously moved forward, he and his legal representatives have kept attempting to appeal his convictions and prison sentence.
In their first formal appeal last December, Combs’ lawyers said that the sexual encounters upon which the convictions were based were consensual and that the court’s ruling to send him to prison was disproportionate.
A further appeal in March called for his “immediate release and a judgment of acquittal or at least vacate and remand for resentencing.”
However, federal prosecutors have recommended to an appeals court that they reject these claims.
