Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs pleads for leniency in letter to judge
Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs has begged for leniency ahead of his sentencing hearing. The rapper wrote a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian just hours before discovering the outcome of his trial.
Combs is scheduled to be sentenced on October 3rd after being found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
In the letter viewed by Far Out, Combs admits to making mistakes but claims he will never commit another crime following his experience behind bars since September 2024.
“Today, I humbly ask you for another chance — another chance to be a better father, another chance to be a better son, another chance to be a better leader in my community, and another chance to live a better life,” he wrote. “I am writing this not to gain any sympathy or pity, this experience is simply the truth of my existence and has changed my life forever and I will never commit a crime again.”
He added, “In my life, I have made many mistakes, but I am no longer running from them. I am so sorry for the hurt that I caused, but I understand that the mere words ‘I’m sorry’ will never be good enough as these words alone cannot erase the pain from the past.”
Combs said he’s now sober for the first time in 25 years and shared that it’s been the hardest two years of his life.
He also apologised to his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, who testified against him and was the reason for one of his guilty prostitution charges.
“The scene and images of me assaulting Cassie play over and over in my head daily,” he said. “I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be.”
At the sentencing hearing, Combs faces a maximum of 20 years behind bars. Prosecutors have pushed for at least 11 years and three months.
They stated, “His crimes of conviction are serious and have warranted sentences over ten years in multiple cases for defendants who, like Sean Combs, engaged in violence and put others in fear.”
