Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs issues apology for “inexcusable” behaviour
In recent days, footage emerged that appeared to show the rapper Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs attacking his former partner Cassie Ventura in a hotel in 2016. Combs has since issued an apology for his “inexcusable” behaviour.
The footage shows a man in a towel running through the hallways of a hotel. He then comes across a woman who he punches in the back of the head, throws to the floor, and repeatedly kicks. CNN, who first released the footage, claimed the persons shown were Combs and Ventura.
The rapper has now seemingly confirmed that he is the assailant in the video by issuing a public apology that states: “I was disgusted when I did it. I’m disgusted now.” In a video, Combs describes the period as “the darkest times” in his life.
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” Combs continued. “I was f—ed up. I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behaviour on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video.”
Previously, Combs’ attorney had explained that Combs denied the various allegations he is currently facing. However, he has admitted that the footage released by CNN does show him assault Ventura. “I went and I sought out professional help, started going to therapy and rehab,” he added, “had to ask god for his mercy and grace.”
Ventura, who is currently 37, 11 years younger than Combs, 48, sought legal advice over the incident and her attorney, Douglas H Wigdor, stated: “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behaviour of Mr Combs.”
Wigdor later added: “Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
