‘Scream’ star Matthew Lillard says “f*ck ICE” at Halloween screening

Scream star Matthew Lillard declared “Fuck ICE” during a Halloween screening of the classic horror film, telling fans that society needs to “lead with love”.

The actor made a surprise appearance at a Scream Halloween party screening hosted by Cinespia in California on October 31st. While at the event, he shared his thoughts on Donald Trump’s controversial immigration policies.

According to Variety, Lillard said, “Fuck ICE,” before adding: “In this time, in this city, we need to lead with love. Do not forget that shit in this moment. Not to be political, but to be political as shit.”

In turn, he also encouraged the crowd to vote for new proposals in the state named Prop 50, which would allow the Californian government to redraw its congressional lines, to counter gerrymandering plans currently taking place in Texas to favour a Republican majority.

“Yes to 50. You have to vote,” Lillard implored the audience. “If you don’t vote, we are going down. So it’s on us. And if you don’t like that, I’m so not sorry.”

The proposals, backed by California governor Gavin Newsom, have attracted controversy from some areas, particularly from former Republican governor and Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who said he opposed redrawing congressional state lines no matter the political leaning.

Lillard’s comments come as he is set to reprise his role as Stu Macher in the upcoming Scream 7, which is set to be released next year. For the film, he is set to be joined by a range of original cast members, including Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette.

Scream 7, directed by Kevin Williamson, is set to be released in cinemas on February 27th, 2026.
