SAULT share new surprise album with unique twist

The elusive collective SAULT, who have never officially revealed their line-up, have been releasing albums with very little promotion for the past five years. As a result of their mysterious nature, paired with the strength of their records, they’ve found cult status and occupy a unique space in the British music scene.

Following on from Untitled (God), released in 2022, SAULT have shared a new album without any warning, Acts of Faith. Coming in the form of one 32-minute song, it has been released via Forever Living Originals.

Acts of Faith was initially teased by the group at their first live show in December 2023. The gig, which was held at London’s Drumsheds, saw iconic British artists like Little Simz, Cleo Sol and Michael Kiwanuka take to the stage, much to the delight of fans who knew little about what to expect from the experience.

To announce the new album, the band shared an image of an old television on their social media featuring a picture of a rainy city street with the words Acts of Faith written over the top.

The record has been produced by Inflo, who appears to tackle most of the instrumentation within SAULT. The other members of the band, although they’ve never been officially confirmed, are Jack Peñate, who also contributes to the instrumentation, and singers Cleo Sol, Chronixx and Kid Sister.

The band’s secrecy has led to lots of hype around their name, with people attracted to the mystery surrounding them. Despite their covert nature, many prestigious acts have been drawn to them over the years.

Recently, it was announced that André 3000, who originally made a name for himself as a member of OutKast, will be collaborating with them, although the details surrounding these plans have not yet been shared.

To listen to Acts of Faith, fans must click the link in the band’s post, which allows them to download a free .wav file of the new album. For now, it also cannot be found on Spotify or other streaming services. The band once released an album that was subsequently deleted from the internet, so who knows how long they’ll keep the Acts of Faith file active.
