Sammy Hagar throws doubt over future touring career

Sammy Hagar has announced the return of his Las Vegas residency in 2026. However, in doing so, has thrown doubt over any other future touring ventures he might come to consider.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer recently confirmed that his The Best of All Worlds Las Vegas residency will return for 11 more performances next year at Dolby Live at Park MGM, in both March and September.

During the shows, he will reunite with his Best of All Worlds band, which includes Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani, drummer Kenny Aronoff, and multi-instrumentalist Rai Thistlethwayte.

Hagar has commented on the style of the residency, sharing, via Alternative Nation, “It’s a dream come true for an elderly rock star that still wants to perform, because the hardest part of doing a tour and playing shows is not the show itself.”

While bemoaning the strenuous impacts of touring, he added, “But with the residency, you get a good night’s sleep. They give you the best rooms on the planet.”

Hagar continued honestly, “To me, it’s a dream come true. It’s extending my touring life. Otherwise, I don’t know if I’d go on tour again and do a major tour. I mean, I could go out and do a few shows here and there.”

Despite these comments, the 78-year-old rocker previously announced a four-date UK arena tour, which will kick off at Manchester’s AO Arena on July 4th, and stop in Birmingham and Leeds before heading to London’s O2 Arena on July 9th. At these shows, he will be supported by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts.

These shows will mark his first live UK appearances since 2012, when he played with the supergroup Chickenfoot.

Hagar hasn’t played Van Halen songs in the UK since 1996, when the band headlined Wembley Arena. However, the setlist for the upcoming shows will honour Van Halen by including several songs on the setlist.
