Sam Fender to release collaboration with Elton John on ‘Talk To You’

Sam Fender has announced that he is set to collaborate with Elton John on a special stripped-back version of one of his latest songs, ‘Talk To You’.

The song comes from the deluxe edition of Fender’s most recent album People Watching, which contains six new tracks on top of those already featured on the original record, including the likes of ‘Rein Me In’ and ‘Remember My Name’.

Fender teased a potential collaborator for the song ‘Talk To You’ in recent days on his social media, showing pictures of himself and his band recording the album in the studio. He captioned the post by saying he was “honoured to have my good friend playing the piano on ‘Talk To You’,” although he did not reveal at the time who this would be.

Subsequently announcing that John would be the special guest pianist on the track, Fender made the announcement via his social media in a joint post with John, showing the single artwork of a forlorn young girl sitting beside a pile of clothes.

Despite Fender not giving much away apart from the fact that the single will be “out this Friday [October 17th]”, John responded to the news by posting the news on his story, which he captioned by saying that he was “incredibly excited for this”.

John has been a prolific champion of younger artists as he has aged into the twilight of his career, previously taking on collaborations with a number of high-profile pop stars, including Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa.

On top of the collaboration with John, Fender is going through an extremely busy time right now in the run-up to the Mercury Awards, for which People Watching has been nominated. He will find out if he is this year’s recipient at a star-studded ceremony in his hometown of Newcastle on October 16th.
