Sam Fender shares new single ‘Arm’s Length’
Sam Fender has continued to tease his forthcoming album People Watching with the new single, ‘Arm’s Length’.
‘Arm’s Length’ is the third cut to be taken from Fender’s upcoming third album following the title track, and ‘Wild Long Lie’. Although fans of Fender who caught him in action on his arena tour last month will already be familiar with ‘Arm’s Length’, which was a staple of his set and clips later surfaced online to a rapturous reception.
On the track, Fender is supported by the backing vocals of Brooke Bentham, who officially joined his band last year, and adds another dimension to the song. ‘Arm’s Length’ also boasts a riff unashamedly inspired by Fleetwood Mac with Fender expressing his traditional pop leanings to great effect.
Fender says ‘Arm’s Length’ “originally came from one of those magic moments where you’re just messing around, and a song literally falls out of the sky. It’s about being avoidant and flighty. But also, just a simple pop song, which I love”.
With People Watching, produced by The War on Drugs, set to arrive on February 21st, this year is set to see Fender’s star rise even further as he cements his status as one of the last decade’s biggest success stories in British music.
This summer, he’ll be headlining festivals across Europe, including Rock Werchter, and is also set to headline three nights at St James’ Park in Newcastle as well as the London Stadium in the capital.
Additionally, earlier this week, Fender was nominated for ‘Artist of the Year’ and ‘Alternative/Rock Act’ at the Brit Awards, which is set to take place at London’s O2 Arena on March 1st.
