Sam Fender announced as Record Store Day UK ambassador
Sam Fender has been unveiled as the ambassador for Record Store Day UK. The Newcastle indie rocker is also set to release a special vinyl EP exclusive to mark the occasion.
The annual celebration of independent record shops up and down the UK is taking place on April 12th, 2025, and as per tradition, they have appointed a star ambassador for the cause. In recognition of this honour, Fender will release a limited edition six-track EP titled Me and the Dog, only available for purchase over the counter of Record Store Day’s 270 participating shops on the day.
Fender said: “It’s a complete honour to be asked to be the ambassador for Record Store Day 2025. The importance of indie stores cannot be understated. Without them, we lose physical spaces for music fans to discover both their favourite new artists and to forge friendships with likeminded people.”
Speaking of his new special release, he continued: “The EP we’re releasing for Record Store Day is called Me And The Dog EP, which at one point was going to be the name of the new album, so it just feels right that it should have its own moment. We’ve included two songs that haven’t been released – ‘I’m Always On Stage’ and ‘Empty Spaces’.”
The new album that Fender mentions, People Watching, will be released on February 21st, but fans will have to head down to their local record stores in April in order to listen to these new exclusive tracks. The Fender domination will then continue through 2025, as he’s set to commence on a stadium tour stopping off in London and his beloved Newcastle in June.
Vinyl fans, in general, can expect, as usual, a whole slew of new releases in celebration of Record Store Day UK 2025, along with Fender’s new EP.
