Saint Etienne to close out the year with Australia and New Zealand farewell tour
Saint Etienne have announced their final tour of New Zealand and Australia, set to take place Down Under in November and December.
The British indie electro-pop trio was formed in 1990. Now, Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley, and Pete Wiggs have expanded their goodbye lap to Australia and New Zealand.
Last November, the group announced their UK and Ireland farewell tour, with a message that admitted, “We’re excited – but slightly teary – to bring you news of our final UK/Irish tour which takes place next September.”
The British natives are set to travel much farther afield on a second farewell stint that begins on November 20th at Auckland’s Powerstation, followed by a show in the New Zealand capital, Wellington.
The band will then perform in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, before a final show in Perth on December 1st.
The group are likely to follow the same formula as their UK shows, which they intend to be “fun parties”. Looking ahead at the shows, they’ve promised “live sets where we’ll select the ‘best of the best’ from our 35-year, 13-album catalogue.”
Saint Etienne also appear open to the prospect of continued farewell shows elswehere, such as Japan or America.
In a review of their 2025 album, International, Far Out observed, “The album is undeniably drenched in fun-loving 1990s nostalgia – but as much as everyone loves reliving the ‘good old days’, the point is that it remains stuck there, and doesn’t offer anything particularly fresh for the 2025 audience to grab on to.”
