Saint Etienne announce UK and Ireland farewell tour: “Fun parties”
Saint Etienne have announced their final UK and Ireland tour, ‘The Long Goodbye’, which will take place next September.
The band was formed in 1990. The London electronic trio – consisting of Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley, and Pete Wiggs – have spent the better part of the last 30 years interspersing their music with a range of film, art, and other cultural outputs. Now, they’re bidding their homeland farewell.
Kicking things off in Manchester on September 15th, they will start off in New Century Hall before making their way to Bristol’s Beacon Theatre. On September 18th, they will play at London’s iconic Roundhouse, before moving on to Sheffield’s Electric.
On the 20th, they’ll travel up to Glasgow. Following this, shows in Dublin, Gateshead, Brighton and Cambridge will see out the farewell.
Announcing the performances via social media, they wrote, “We’re excited – but slightly teary – to bring you news of our final UK/Irish tour which takes place next September.”
They added, “Please don’t be sad, we want these shows to be fun parties. Live sets where we’ll select the ‘best of the best’ from our 35-year, 13-album catalogue.”
Answering a question they knew would come next, they wrote, “Will there be tours in Europe, America, Japan or Australia? It’s too early to say right now, but if you want to catch us in the UK, please be on standby as tickets go on sale next week.”
In a review of their 2025 album, International, Far Out observed, “The album is undeniably drenched in fun-loving 1990s nostalgia – but as much as everyone loves reliving the ‘good old days’, the point is that it remains stuck there, and doesn’t offer anything particularly fresh for the 2025 audience to grab on to.”
