SAG Awards 2020: ‘Parasite’ enjoys historical victory

Parasite, the South Korean black comedy thriller film directed by Bong Joon-ho, emerged as the historical winners at the 2020 SAG Awards by becoming the first non-English language film to win the Ensemble Cast for a Motion Picture.

The film, which has been widely celebrated, overcame the likes of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman to claim the honour and gives hope for victory at the upcoming Academy Awards.

Elsewhere Joaquin Phoenix claimed best male actor for his lead role in Joker and Renee Zelwegger claimed best female actor on a lead role for her work in Judy. In terms of best supporting, Brad Pitt unsurprisingly emerged victorious for his role in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood as did Laura Dern for Marriage Story.
