Sacha Baron Cohen says his body transformation is a “mid-life crisis”

After revealing a significant body transformation for his role as Mephisto in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sacha Baron Cohen has jokingly deemed it his “mid-life crisis.”

The 53-year-old actor debuted his new look on the cover of Men’s Fitness UK. He updated his physique in order to play Mephisto in the season finale of the Marvel series Ironheart. The Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, has since confirmed that this is a role Cohen will return to.

The images show Cohen’s newly muscly torso, arms, and abs, all suitably coated in oil. Fans were quick to respond to the image of the cover feature, accusing the star of using AI. Cohen retaliated in his infamously self-deprecating way.

He wrote on Instagram: “Some celebs use Ozempic and some use private chefs, others use personal trainers. I did all three,” and “This is not AI. I really am egotistical enough to do this.”

A representative for Cohen has since claimed to the Mail Online he was “only joking'” about Ozempic usage and his body transformation is “all down to hard work.”

Cohen recently divorced his partner of two decades, Isla Fisher. They announced their separation on their Instagram Stories, stating, “In 2023, we jointly filed to end our marriage.” The pair first began dating in 2001 and tied the knot in 2003. Since their marriage, they have also worked together onscreen, including on the comedy film Brothers Grimsby.

Ironheart is a Disney+ miniseries set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It follows Riri Williams, a young genius inventor who creates her suit of armour inspired by Iron Man. In the season finale, Riri Williams makes a deal with Mephisto, played by Cohen, to resurrect her deceased friend, Natalie.
