Sabrina Carpenter song ‘Juno’ used in White House video of ICE deportation raids

The Sabrina Carpenter hit ‘Juno’ has been used in a new video by the White House depicting deportation raids across the US being carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The pop star performed the tune as one of the most famous hits on her Short N Sweet tour, during which she would jokingly pretend to arrest an audience member or celebrity at the show every night.

However, the Trump administration has now taken this into its own hands by using the song in a TikTok video, posted on December 1st, which first showed a protest against ICE raids before moving to display clips of immigrants being arrested by ICE officers, according to Rolling Stone

Furthermore, in the caption to the video, they also directly quoted lyrics from ‘Juno’, saying: “Have you ever tried this one? Bye-bye.”

With the video having now been viewed almost two million times in the space of 24 hours since it was posted, it is not known whether Carpenter has consented to her song being used for this political purpose.

Neither the White House nor she has yet responded or made any further comments on the video, but it comes after a number of other pop stars have previously slammed the Trump administration for using their music in its social media posts.

Olivia Rodrigo recently hit out as they used her song ‘All-American Bitch’ in a similar video depicting ICE raids, which she responded to in a now-deleted comment that said: “Don’t ever use my songs to promote your racist, hateful propaganda.”

The White House hit back at Rodrigo via a statement given to Rolling Stone at the time, which said: “America is grateful all the time for our federal law enforcement officers who keep us safe. We suggest Ms. Rodrigo thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice.”

Separately for her own part, although Carpenter has not yet spoken publicly on the issue of immigration, she did previously advocate for transgender rights during her performance at the MTV VMAs, after Trump had taken steps to ban the marginalised group from military service.
