Ryan Adams cancels entirety of European tour
Ryan Adams has cancelled his upcoming European tour.
Adams took to Instagram on July 20th to confirm the run of dates would no longer be going ahead, citing health reasons, writing in the caption, “Tour times. Been sick. Fall tour cancelled.”
The full post reads, “Due to circumstance beyond our control, the upcoming Ryan Adams European Tour has been cancelled. We apologise to all those who bough tikcets were excited for these shows.”
It added, “Ryan is doing OK and working hard to finish the new album trilogy. New music on the way soon.”
The singer-songwriter had been due to kick off the run of shows in Lisbon on October 10th, before visiting Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Valencia, Geneva, Heidelberg, Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Bologna, Brescia and Rome.
It comes just days after he posted on Instagram, which has subsequently been deleted, that he was selling many of his belongings, writing (via Reddit), “I’m broke and sick and tired but my heart is beating is blasting with hope and riff optimism and I appreciate anybody who can give these treasured things a new life.”
In 2019, several women came forward to the New York Times and made allegations of abuse against Adams, including Phoebe Bridgers and his ex-wife, Mandy Moore.
Two years later, he begged for a “second chance” in a since-deleted Instagram post, writing, “I know I’m damaged goods. I know I am and they aren’t the ideal thing, but I had a label interested for months and they wasted my time. I’m months from losing my label, studio and my home.”
He added, “I just really want a second chance to make some music — maybe help other people believe you can get up out of the gutter and be something. I’m 46 and scared I’m gonna be living in my sisters basement.”
Earlier this year, Adams made headlines when he branded Australia the “worst country ever to play” following a tour in another since-deleted social media post.
He also wrote (via Sky News Australia), “Thank fuck never again. You are the worst people and you know it. The best you can do is copy American and UK culture. Stew in your own juices. Never again.”
Following the allegations made against him in 2019, Adams returned to touring in 2022 and has regularly performed live over the last four years.
