Rare Röyksopp album with hand-painted Banksy cover breaks Discogs vinyl record

A rare Röyksopp record, which features a hand-painted cover painted by mysterious street artist Banksy, has become the most expensive record ever sold on Discogs.

The Norwegian band’s ultra-rare edition of their double-LP Melody A.M. was released in 2001 with Banksy adding his own unique touch on the cover on just 100 editions of the record.

Now, one of those 100 records has been sold for an eye-watering figure of $10,256 making it the website’s largest sale to date, beating the time when The Beatles record ‘Love Me Do’ was sold for $9220.00.

The Röyksopp cover features a blank white canvas with the band’s name stencilled in dark green paint at the bottom right corner. See the image of the record-breaking vinyl, below.
