The Rolling Stones delivered a rendition of their iconic song ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ as part of the ‘One World: Together at Home’ broadcast.
The show, which lasted eight hours and included over 100 different artists, was dedicated to first responders and medical staff who are committed to the current coronavirus pandemic.
Organised by Lady Gaga, who said that the event was “a love letter to the world”, the musical campaign was established in a bid to raise money for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for WHO. Discussing the event, Gaga said the participating musicians wanted “to give back a little bit of the kindness that you’ve given us”.
Alongside Gaga, who also performed on the night, the ‘One World: Together at Home’ broadcast included shows from the likes of Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Lizzo and, of course, The Rolling Stones.
“Here’s one I hope you know,” frontman Mick Jagger said when introducing the song with his acoustic guitar in hand. “I hope you can join in,” he added before ‘Keith cam’, ‘Ronnie cam’ and ‘Charlie cam’ slowly made their entrance.
