Roger Waters issues plea for singer to join his son’s Pink Floyd tribute band: “Harry’s band is missing one thing”
Roger Waters has issued a plea on behalf of his son, Harry Waters, who needs a singer for his Pink Floyd tribute band.
Taking to X, the Pink Floyd musician announced details of “Roger Waters presents Legacy” which is described as “A Pink Floyd show, performed by the Harry Waters Band” with the tagline, “The Father’s Legacy, The Son’s Band”.
Waters explained of the project, “My son Harry has put a great band and show together to go on the road next year to pay tribute to the music from the golden era of Pink Floyd and maybe a couple of songs from my subsequent solo career.”
However, there is one major void that needs filling before Harry’s band, according to Waters, who added, “Harry’s band is missing one thing. The voice I had when I was young.”
Patting himself on the back, Waters continued, “Back in the day, I could sing everything from the soft urgency of ‘Hello, is there anybody in there?’ from ‘Comfortably Numb’, to the high-pitched scream of ‘You know how I need you to beat to a pulp on a Saturday night’ from ‘Don’t Leave Me Now’.”
He then asked, “Can you do that? Are you that missing voice? If you are, this is your chance. This is an open invitation to audition for Harry’s band. I’m serious.”
If this role sounds of interest, then feel free to visit here and apply for the job as the frontman of Roger Waters presents Legacy.
This isn’t Harry Waters’ first rodeo playing his father’s music; he was previously a member of Roger Waters’ touring band for 14 years before he was relieved of his services in 2016, much to his surprise.
Reflecting on his firing by his own father during a 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, Harry admitted, “I was fired. It was pretty miserable.”
He added, “I’m not sure of his exact reasoning, but everyone except two people got fired. But the other guys that got the sack weren’t his son, so it was doubly hurtful for me.”
Since then, he joined Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade to perform Pink Floyd’s Animals in its entirety on tour, and also played three shows with Pink Floyd tribute band, aptly named Brit Floyd.
