Rod Stewart congratulates King Charles for putting “little rat bag” Donald Trump “in his place”
It’s safe to say Rod Stewart isn’t a fan of President Donald Trump, who he called a “rat bag” to King Charles.
The British monarch was recently in the United States for a state visit, which saw King Charles make several subtle jokes at Trump’s expense, including telling him, “If it wasn’t for us, you’d be speaking French.”
Last night (May 11th), Stewart had the opportunity to share his thoughts on the state visit with King Charles at an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the King’s Trust at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
During their brief interaction, Stewart bluntly told the King, “May I say, well done in the Americas. You were superb, absolutely superb. Put that little ratbag in his place.”
After King Charles responded by laughing off Stewart’s compliment, the ‘Maggie May’ singer heaped more praise, adding, “It went right over his head, right over his head.”
He also told Camilla, “I was just congratulating your husband on his wonderful performance in the Americas, so great, so brave, so proud.”
Previously, in January, Stewart demanded a public apology from Trump after he claimed the US “never needed” troops from NATO nations, including the UK, in conflicts such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
Stewart shared, “It hurts me badly, deeply, when I read that draft dodger Trump has criticised our troops in Afghanistan for not being on the front line.”
He then called upon the leaders of the UK’s major political parties to “make the draft dodger Trump apologise”, which he later did.
Stewart’s history with Trump pre-dates the former host of The Apprentice turning his arm to politics.
Last year, Stewart revealed that he used to be friendly with Trump once upon a time, sharing, “I’m not a great fan of Trump. I knew him very, very well. I used to go to his house.” However, Stewart no longer recognises the person he is today, adding, “But since he became President, he became another guy. Somebody I didn’t know.”
