Robert Plant turns back time with performance of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Ramble On’ on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’

Robert Plant with Saving Grace brought out a rendition of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Ramble On’ on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on April 8th.

Plant, who recently wrapped up his North American dates with a show in New York, has now appeared on Colbert twice in a matter of months, after previously performing on the same stage in November.

With The Late Show with Stephen Colbert set to wrap up next month, it was only right that Plant popped through, as he was in the area, for one final time and gave the long-running talk show the musical send-off it deserves.

First up, Plant with Saving Grace took a trip back to 1969 to deliver a bone-chilling performance of ‘Ramble On’, which initially appeared on Led Zeppelin II.

It is one of only a handful of Led Zeppelin songs that are staples of his setlists with Saving Grace, along with ‘The Rain Song’ and ‘Friends’.

Later on, in the programme, Plant performed ‘Higher Rock’ from his debut album with Saving Grace, which arrived last year, showing that he’s still got it.

Next up for Plant and Saving Grace is a trip to South America, which will begin with a pair of shows in Buenos Aires in May, followed by visits to Córdoba and Rosario while in Argentina. In Brazil, they’ll take to the stage in Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo.

Then, this summer, Plant with Saving Grace will return to Europe, including three shows at Saint Michael’s Fortress in Sibenik, Croatia, as well as dates in Turkey, Bulgaria and Greece.

While there was no time for chat during his latest appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, his last conversation with the comedian saw the duo bond over their shared love of JRR Tolkien, which came before it was confirmed Colbert would be writing a new Lord of the Rings movie.
