Robert Plant announces new UK tour with Saving Grace
Robert Plant has confirmed details of a new UK tour with his band Saving Grace featuring Suzi Dian.
The announcement comes ahead of the release of their new album Saving Grace, set to arrive on September 26th through Nonesuch Records. In addition to Dian, the band also consists of drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo and string player Matt Worley and cellist Barney Morse-Brown.
Their UK dates will begin in Portsmouth at the Guildhall on December 8th, with further dates planned in Eastbourne, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Middlesbrough, and Newcastle before it wraps up at The Barbican in York on December 23rd.
Plant and Saving Grace are coming off the back of a busy summer, which took them across Europe, performing across the continent in countries including France, Spain, Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Additionally, later this year, Plant will be taking Saving Grace to the United States for the first time with notable dates including New York’s Brooklyn Paramount, Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre, Chicago’s The Vic, and Los Angeles’ United Theater.
While Saving Grace is their first album together, they have spent the last six years honing their craft on their road, which has culminated in a record that Plant describes as “a songbook of the lost and found.”
Upon announcing the record in July, Plant said of the joyful dynamic he shares with his bandmates, stating, “We laugh a lot, really. I think that suits me. I like laughing. You know, I can’t find any reason to be too serious about anything. I’m not jaded. The sweetness of the whole thing…”
The former Led Zeppelin frontman continued: “These are sweet people and they are playing out all the stuff that they could never get out before. They have become unique stylists and together they seem to have landed in a most interesting place.”
