Robert Pattinson open to ‘Twilight’ franchise reboot: “For sure”

Robert Pattinson has surprised fans of his early work with his openness to reviving the cult classic vampire franchise, Twilight.

Pattinson most recently stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the psychological thriller Die My Lovedirected by We Need To Talk About Kevin mastermind Lynne Ramsay. They play a couple with a newborn thrown into the jaws of post-natal psychosis.

On the press tour for the movie, the pair interviewed each other while hooked up to lie detectors. When costar Jennifer Lawrence asked whether he would actually consider returning as Edward Cullen. “Oh, yeah, for sure,” the actor replied merrily.

Lawrence was shocked at Pattinson’s answer, but this didn’t put him off. He continued, “It would be great. I like taking jobs off younger actors. I want to play 17 Again.” The lie detector indicated that this was the truth.

The vampire flicks have been a key topic in the press tour for Die My Love, as the first book in the series is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary. As a result, the Good Times actor has reflected on his involvement in the series at the New York premiere of his new film, Die My Love, sharing, “It’s amazing.”

At the time, he continued, “I can’t believe the cultural legs that movie has had … just mind-blowing to me. It’s so cool.”

Despite his newfound gratitude, Pattinson had previously been less than kind about the cult movies. In the press run for the first movie, he admitted, “When I read [the book], I was convinced that Stephenie was convinced that she was Bella. It was like it was a book that wasn’t supposed to be published, like reading her — her sort of sexual fantasy.”

All five films in the Twilight Saga, which also starred Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart, were re-released in cinemas in October and November 2025 in the US and UK.

Die My Love hit cinemas on November 14th, and was praised for strong performances by both leads.
