Jennifer Lawrence explains why she’s comfortable with nude scenes: “I’m not sensitive”
Jennifer Lawrence has shared her thoughts on filming nude scenes, bringing a relaxed attitude to the topical discourse.
Lawrence most recently stars alongside Robert Pattinson in the psychological thriller Die My Love, directed by We Need To Talk About Kevin mastermind Lynne Ramsay. There are several nude scenes in the film, as well as scenes of her masturbating.
Speaking about the experience during a special screening of the film, Lawrence mused, as filmed by Vulture, “I don’t care about nudity. I just don’t. I’m not sensitive about it. I wanted Lynne Ramsay to have total freedom artistically, and I think being pregnant took a lot of vanity and anxiety away.”
Lawrence cast her brain back to her 2023 rom-com, No Hard Feelings, and added, “I remember before No Hard Feelings, I was dieting and not eating carbs and working out.”
However, the Hunger Games actor noted that filming Die My Love was a different experience altogether, as “I was pregnant. What was I gonna do? Like, not eat? I was working 15 hours a day. I was just tired.”
Lawrence had said similar in 2023, when the film was first released. Filming a beach scene in which she wore no clothes, Lawrence shared, “Everyone in my life and my team is doing the right thing and going, ‘Are you sure? Are you sure? Are you sure?’ I didn’t even have a second thought. It was hilarious to me.”
In her latest movie, Lawrence said it felt “really freeing” to be so nonchalant towards how she was depicted and perceived. She added, “I remember them sending over a close-up of cellulite being like, ‘Do you want us to touch this up?’ And I was like, ‘No. That’s an ass.'”
Die My Love will hit cinemas on November 14th.
