Nick Reiner, Rob Reiner’s son, “booked for murder” after the deaths of his parents

Nick Reiner, the son of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, is in custody following the deaths of his parents, according to police in Los Angeles.

Reiner and his wife were found dead in their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, on December 14th. Police launched an investigation and were treating the deaths as an “apparent homicide”, although no suspect was named.

However, Variety reported that the couple’s son Nick is now in custody and was arrested on December 14th at 9.15pm local time, subsequently being booked on a “felony charge” at 5.04am local time on December 15th.

The Los Angeles Police Department then confirmed during a press conference that Nick Reiner has been “booked for murder”, and that his bail has been set at $4million.

The LAPD previously stated that no suspect had been detained and that there was no threat to the wider public. Specific causes of death for Reiner and his wife, Michele, have not yet been made public, although TMZ reported that the couple had suffered injuries consistent with a knife attack.

Reiner and his wife are survived by two other children, Jake and Romy, as well as his adopted daughter, Tracy. CBS News reports that the couple’s daughter Romy found their bodies and raised the alarm to police.

In a statement announcing their deaths, the wider Reiner family said: “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner.”

They added: “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
