Rivals Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump both attend US Open final

Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump both attended the final of the US Open on September 7th amid the ongoing bitter feud between the pair.

The stars turned out in force at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York to watch Carlos Alcaraz rise to victory over Jannik Sinner in a stunning four-set victory, marking the sixth Grand Slam title in the 22-year-old Spaniard’s career.

However, at times, the attention turned off the court towards the onlooking crowd, as the US President was seen in attendance in the Rolex box, while TV cameras later spotted Springsteen also in the stands in a celebrity section, alongside the likes of Sting and Ben Stiller.

This marks the first time that ‘The Boss’ and Trump have been remotely in each other’s vicinity since their public feuding match at the beginning of this summer, sparked during Springsteen’s UK and European dates in May and June, where he variously branded the US administration as “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.”

With Trump subsequently hitting back by calling the classic singer “dumb as a rock” a fiery feud ensued between the pair, with the ‘Born in the USA’ singer continuing to criticise the president over the course of the rest of his live dates, having been a staunch Democrat supporter and critic of Trump since he started making waves on the American political scene over a decade ago now.

Elsewhere over the weekend, Springsteen also made an appearance at Monmouth University in celebration of the 50th anniversary of his seminal album Born to Run, surprising the audience with a performance of the titular track and ‘Thunder Road’.

Springsteen was joined on stage by past and present members of his iconic E Street Band, including the likes of Steve Van Zandt, Roy Bittan, Garry Tallent and Max Weinberg.
