Red Hot Chili Peppers confirm they're working with John Frusciante on a new album

Red Hot Chili Peppers fans rejoiced upon hearing the news that longtime guitarist impresario John Frusciante was rejoining the band. Now, they have a new album on the horizon to look forward to.

Last month saw the announcement of John Frusciante’s return and now drummer Chad Smith has confirmed, via a chat with Rolling Stone, that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are “concentrating on new songs and writing a new record.”

Smith continued “We are real excited to make new music,” but when pressed suddenly realised that he may be speaking out of turn. When asked to confirm whether a new album was definitely on the way he replied, “Yes. That’s all I can say.”

The drummer was supposed to be talking to Rolling Stone about his upcoming art exhibition. But he found room to say that the band were “psyched” to be playing some shows in the coming year yet “the festivals are the only shows booked” right now.
