Record Store Day 2025: 10 must-attend events happening near you
The years roll by quickly. It’s sad because it means before we know it, the sun we experience now, the kind that makes us yearn for festivals, drinks and all things outdoors, will soon be replaced with an all too familiar grey. However, there are benefits to time flying by as well; for instance, there’s another Record Store Day for us to celebrate, and with it, a range of new records and an even bigger range of events coming soon.
The evolution of this day is truly something to gawk at. It initially started in 2008 and was founded by a few independent store executives who wanted to set aside one day to celebrate physical music, the stores that sell it, and the people who run them. Since then, artists all over the world have become keen to be involved, and the day has gone from being a niche celebration for collectors to a vital holiday in any music lover’s calendar.
It’s no longer just about the records being sold, either, and is instead about recognising the social aspect of record stores. These aren’t just places that sell records; they’re central hubs littered with music lovers keen to celebrate and talk about the art form they cherish most. As such, many stores have set aside the date in their calendars to ensure they are doing all they can to commemorate their unique hold on music. This means live bands, drinks, DJs and food times until the early hours.
No matter where you are, there will be an event happening near you; all you have to do is find it. At Far Out, we’ve decided to make things as simple as possible by mapping out ten must-attend events happening this year for Record Store Day. Have a browse and see what’s coming near you.
