Real Farmer share new single ‘The Straightest Line’

Real Farmer have shared a new single titled ‘The Straightest Line’, which provides a second glimpse at their upcoming debut album, Compare What’s There.

Following from the release of lead single ‘Inner City’ late last year, the new track underscores singer Jeroen Klootsema’s desperate wails with urgent instrumentation. Guitars oscillate between urgent and sparse, while the lyrics focus on the isolating difficulties of going straight edge.

According to the band, the new song is about “walking the straightest line, which means to lead a clean life: to work out, eat healthy, stay away from drugs and alcohol. Often this way of living is seen as the one size fits all solution to any type of mental struggle, yet its rigidity can become a very debilitating and alienating thing.”

The single preempts the release of the band’s debut album, Compare What’s There, which is set for release on March 8th, 2024. The record will be released through Strap Originals, the label helmed by the Libertines co-frontman Peter Doherty.

Real Farmer also have a series of live dates planned for the first quarter of the year. In January and February, they will embark upon six shows across Norwich, St Albans, Cambridge, York, Hebden Bridge and Sheffield for Independent Venue Week.

In March, the band will be back on the road for their UK headline tour, which will take them to stages in London, Bristol, Nottingham and more.
