Raven forced to cancel tour due to singer undergoing brain surgery
Rock band Raven have cancelled their upcoming tour due to singer John Gallagher undergoing brain surgery.
The band were due to begin their European tour on September 5th in the Netherlands, and they were set to perform all over the continent in Germany, Austria, Italy, Cyprus, Greece and Barcelona.
In a statement, Raven shared on social media, “We are very sad to say that we have to postpone the upcoming European tour due to John’s health.”
The message then explained: “He was admitted to hospital with a massive headache on August 12th. Following a CAT scan, it was determined that he was suffering from a bleed on the brain – Subdural Hematoma.”
The rockers continued: “Surgery was planned for the next day, then a further, more invasive surgery was performed on the 19th. He is now doing good, but of course, needs to recuperate and will not be able to fly on a plane.”
Gallagher, who formed the group in 1974 along with his brother Mark Gallagher, also addressed the situation in a video message from the hospital. He began by saying it was “not the video I wanted to make but here we are”, per The Mirror.
The frontman revealed that he was hospitalised on August 12th due to suffering from “bad headaches”, he continued, “They put me into surgery the next day, found I had a bleed on the brain so we don’t want any aneurysms and strokes and crap like that, so they went in, did their thing.”
Gallagher returned to the hospital for another procedure on August 19th, and in a positive update, he said “things are working out” and “I am getting there” despite having to cancel the tour.
He concluded by saying, “I’m just not strong enough and as you know, our show is all about strength, and once I’m ready, we’ll come back better than ever.”
