Rare 1982 Nina Simone album, ‘Fodder On My Wings’, to be reissued

Fodder On My Wings, the rare 1982 Nina Simone album, is being handed a reissue which will mark the first time in its history that the material will be available to stream digitally.

The record, which will also be released on CD and vinyl, was recorded following Simone’s move to France in 1982 and is regarded as some of the most personal work the iconic singer created.

Working in a state of solitude, Simone’s mental health began to worsen and she tackled topics of her father’s death and her somewhat difficult period living in Liberia, Trinidad and Switzerland.

The album would remain difficult to track down in the years since its release through a small French label. Now though, the record is due out on April 3rd via Verve and will include three bonus tracks from the original recording sessions.

To coincide with the reissue news, the album’s opening track, ‘I Sing Just To Know That I’m Alive’, has been made available to stream and is included below.

Fodder On My Wings Tracklist:
01. I Sing Just To Know That I’m Alive
