Rage Against the Machine have been forced to postpone the first leg of their eagerly anticipated reunion tours amid the coronavirus outbreak,
The band, who were due to kick start a run of tour dates at the end of the month, were also the planned headline act of Coachella Festival which has also moved its planned dates.
Taking to social media, the band said: “Due to the current outbreak and ban on public gatherings we are postponing the first part of our tour (March 26th – May 20th) with Run the Jewels. The safety and health of those who come to our shows is of the utmost importance to us.”
“All previously purchased tickets will be honoured for newly scheduled shows as it stands.”
The ongoing epidemic of coronavirus disease was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei in China. As of March 12th, 2020, more than 134,000 cases have been confirmed, of which more than 8,000 were classified as serious.
With more than 4,900 people having died from the virus, most of which have come in different provinces of China, coronavirus has now spread to 120 other countries—including mainland Europe, South America and North America.
