Radiohead to take ‘Kid A Mnesia’ installation across North America following Coachella

Radiohead have confirmed plans to bring their Kid A Mnesia installation across North America.

The project is a 75-minute film, featuring artwork created by Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood during the process of making 2000’s Kid A and 2001’s Amnesiac, soundtracked by the music from those records.

The world premiere of Motion Picture House featuring Kid A Mnesia, to give the installation its full title, will be exhibited at both weekends of Coachella, taking place between April 10th and 12th as well as April 17th and 19th in California.

After being shown at Coachella, it will then move on to Brooklyn, Chicago, Mexico City and San Francisco in North America.

The announcement says of the project, “KID A MNESIA was originally intended as an experience in a physical space and while the pandemic necessitated Epic Games’ Unreal Engine transporting the project to a virtual world, Motion Picture House is the actualization of the original idea: an opportunity for audiences to be completely enveloped in the world of Kid A and Amnesiac.”

It also describes it as “gorgeous, visceral and slightly anxiety-inducing, KID A MNESIA is an epic wander through the masterpieces that inspired it—a time and place that 25 years ago, Radiohead cautioned us to enter at our own peril.”

Following the conclusion of Coachella, it will move next to the Agger Fish Building in Brooklyn between May 6th to 31st. Next up is the Cinespace Studio in Chicago, which will be the home of the installation from July 30th to August 23rd.

From there, Kid A Mnesia will be shown at the La Maravilla Studios in Mexico City from October 27th to November 15th, before closing out its North American run at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco in early 2027 from January 14th to February 7th.

Elsewhere in the world of Radiohead, Ed O’Brien is set to release his second solo album, Blue Morpho, next month. While on the promotional trail, O’Brien recently let slip they would be returning to the road in 2027 and plan on replicating their European tour, which saw them play 20 shows in 2025, across different continents each year.

He shared with Rolling Stone, “What we’re going to do is, every year we’re going to do a different continent, and we’re going to do 20 shows each year. No more, no less.”

O’Brien has also revealed that Yorke is currently working on a solo album, too, which is yet to be formally announced.

Regarding new music from Radiohead, the decade-long wait continues to go on…
