The Far Out Pub Quiz: Stan Lee is back, Paul McCartney is also back, and Dracula is also also back
I don’t know where in the world you’re reading this from, but here in the UK, my God, it’s been boiling.
It’s typical of us British to complain constantly about the cold and the rain, only for the sun to show up, and then we immediately moan about that. Cheap desk fan sales have reached an all-time high as people attempt to pierce through this thick layer of humidity and go about their working day like a normal person, but it’s all to no avail.
I myself have seen the impact of the heat trickle down into my work this week. Proofreading articles has led me to discover a lot more spelling and grammatical errors than usual. One of the most prominent came the other day, while I was writing a piece about prog-rock, instead of saying “Frank Zappa,” I’d written, “HOLY CRAP IT’S SO HOT WHY CAN’T THE SUN JUST PISS OFF?!?!” So, yeah, we’ve all been struggling.
In the midst of a heatwave, spare a thought for the humble quiz master. The last thing that anybody wants to do in the blistering sun is sit in a dark pub and try to remember what the flag for Angola looks like. All around the country, pubs sat empty, as lonely quiz writers asked their questions to empty rooms. “What’s the home planet of the Daleks?” They said, to silence, how sad.
No doubt you, the public, are also missing your weekly fix of trivia because of this unbearable heat. Who has time to actually think about questions and write down the answers when just sitting in a chair leads to buckets of sweat spilling from the brow? Well, now that the temperature is dropping, we at Far Out are here to provide you with your weekly quiz.
A lot has gone on this past week in the realm of celebrity, from film reboots to AI controversy and Paul McCartney eating chicken. How well have you been paying attention to the past week in entertainment? Let’s find out.
