Quentin Tarantino confirms his next project is a West End play

Director Quentin Tarantino has confirmed that his next project will be a West End play, which could potentially become his final film should it be a success.

Tarantino told The Church of Tarantino podcast that he plans to spend around two years on the new project. The Pulp Fiction mastermind also confirmed, “The play is all written, it is absolutely the next thing that I’m going to [do] and we will start the ball rolling on it in January.”

He also revealed that the play will be a comedy, though it is yet to have an official title. Tarantino continued, “I’m preparing for it to be a success. If it is a flop, then I will be done very quickly.”

Tarantino will move to England from Israel, where he reportedly now resides with his wife, singer Daniella Pick, and their two children. However, they will see the rest of this year out before embarking on the new adventure.

Previously, the director had revealed that he was considering penning a play. At that time, he hoped it “would be funny stuff” and that if it were “a popular play, then I’ll probably make a movie.”

This will not be his first rodeo. He previously adapted the 2019 hit Once Upon a Time in Hollywood into a play. Tarantino also just sold the rights to the script for the sequel, The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth, to Netflix for $20million.

Tarantino has already noted that he is in no rush to finish his final film. “I kind of want to not do whatever movie I end up doing until my son is at least 6,” he said in January. “That way he will know what’s going on, he’ll be there and it will be a memory for the rest of his life. My daughter is already such a genius, she’ll just get it.”
