Psychedelic Furs cancel all tour dates due to “serious medical issue”

The Psychedelic Furs have cancelled all their upcoming shows, including an upcoming co-headline tour with Living Colour.

The co-headline dates, which were only announced earlier this week, were due to see both bands play 22-dates across North America this summer, starting in Arvada on August 2nd.

Before then, the Psychedlic Furs had their own separate tour, which was due to start in the coming days and conclude in July. However, none of these shows will now be going ahead.

Taking to Instagram, the Psychedelic Furs shared on May 8th, “Due to a serious medical issue in the band, the tour dates scheduled for spring and summer are being cancelled.”

The statement continued, “Please accept our deepest apologies for the inconvenience.”

No further details have been revealed regarding the specifics of the health issues that have caused the cancellation and which band member has been affected.

The Psychedelic Furs have been off the road throughout 2026 so far, but it was a busy 2025 for the band, which saw them extensively tour North America across the summer with Gary Numan, before completing headline tours of the United Kingdom and Europe in the autumn.

Sadly, the band’s saxophonist, Mars Williams, died in 2023. During an interview with the Spanish publication Sur last year, co-founder Tim Butler opened up about the loss, sharing, “We miss Mars very much. His personality and presence can never be replaced.”

He also explained, “Instead of trying to recreate that, we went back to double guitars (as we had back in the day). Peter Distefano (co-founder of Porno For Pyros) has joined our lineup and is a wonderful addition.”
