Propagandhi cancel US tour due to “circumstances beyond our control”
Canadian punk band Propagandhi’s US tour has been cancelled, the group have confirmed.
In a statement, the band shared on Instagram: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to play any USA dates in 2025, including June 28th – Portland OR, July 19 – Denver CO, September 27 – Worchester MA, Oct 24 – Gainesville FL. Sincere apologies for any inconveniences, Propagandhi”.
No reasoning has been given for cancelling the scheduled dates. Currently, it appears that only their US dates have been affected.
Their new album, At Peace, is set to arrive on May 5th. While Propagandhi will no longer be bringing it to the US, they are still set to start their European tour on May 16th in Barcelona. They will also visit Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia, the Netherlands, and Belgium, as well as a number of dates in Germany.
During an interview with Louder Sound in March, the band’s Chris Hannah criticised Donald Trump’s plans to make Canada become the 51st state of America, stating, “In the sense of Trump and this 51st state shit, it’s interesting the shift I’ve seen in the average person in my neighbourhood, who previously showed no outward opinion about nationalism or anti-Americanism.”
Hannah continued: “People across the country are taking this quite seriously, probably in a similar way that people in adjoining states to Russia, like Finland, are genuinely worried about the regimes that are in power.”
Fellow Canadian Neil Young has also disapproved Trump’s plans for Canada. In a recent open letter endorsing Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Young said Canada is “facing threats to its very existence.”
He added, “They want our resources, they want our land, they want our fisheries, they want our water, they want our Arctic, maybe they want our souls. I know the US president could use a soul.”
