Prince is reissuing ‘The Rainbow Children’ and ‘One Nite Alone…’

Prince’s Estate alongside Legacy Recordings has announced that the late, great artist’s albums The Rainbow Children and One Nite ALone are being reissued after being out of rotation for a long time.

It is the first selection of records to be reissued in 2020 and sees the early noughties releases (2001 and 2002, respectively) arrive to record shops across the country on April 17th.

The album’s mark a moment of change for Prince as he moved to NPG records and also began putting his music online for the first time. The Rainbow Children Prince’s 24th studio album was the first released via his NPG Music Club website as well as the NPG label.

As well as being technologically ahead of its time it also marked the first time since 1993 that Prince had used his name instead of the symbol he had adopted. The album will be available on CD and, more notably, on a crystal-clear double LP with a limited-edition rainbow slipmat.

One Nite Alone… the following record was released on NPG Records in 2002 and sees Prince barely using other instruments aside from his piano. It also features his heartwrenching cover of Joni Mitchell’s ‘A Case of You’. The live albums that took place between the two studio albums will also be released.

It means One Nite Alone…, the 4 LP set One Nite Alone…Live! as well as the double LP One Nite Alone: The Aftershow…It Ain’t Over! will all be released on vinyl for the first time and in limited edition purple, no less. In addition, there will also be a five disc collection, Up All Nite with Prince: The One Nite Alone Collection made available for the first time.

It marks yet another huge release for Prince as his fans get to grips with his extensive back catalogue once again.
