Post Malone forced to end Edmonton show after three songs due to thunderstorms
Post Malone‘s concert in Edmonton, Canada, was cancelled just three songs into his performance due to extreme weather.
The hitmaker was stopping by the Commonwealth Stadium as part of his Big Ass Stadium Tour with Jelly Roll, which went off without a hitch on July 24th, but the show on July 25th was a different story completely.
Out of nowhere, Edmonton was suddenly utter carnage due to the weather with Post Malone addressing the situation, telling the crowd, “Ladies and gentlemen, so there’s lightning apparently, very close, so I guess they’re kicking me off the stage.”
He added to a chorus of boos, “I suppose it’s a weather delay and we’re gonna come back out here, but they’re saying shelter in place, I guess, until they get the go-ahead.”
At first, the concert was postponed, before being cancelled completely as Edmonton was shutdown due to the weather, which caused roads to be underwater. Organisers cited the damaged stage as the reason for the cancellation.
Just hours before the concert took place, Environment Canada issued a red tornado warning as well as severe thunderstorm watches and warnings for Edmonton, per CBC.
Brina Braun, who was at the concert, told CBC, “I have never been so soaked in my entire life, it was crazy. The hail really hurt.”
She harrowingly added, “Then, it came a point where everyone’s starting to get freaked out. There were people around us crying, people lost their friends.”
Due to the show ending prematurely, fans are set to receive a full refund for the concert.
The North American leg of Post Malone and Jelly Roll’s summer tour is set to conclude on July 28th at the Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
