Polaris Prize 2017 Long List: Mac DeMarco, Leonard Cohen and more

Mac DeMarco, Leonard Cohen and many more head the Long List for the 2017 Polaris Music Prize.

The prize, awarded annually, presents $50,000 to the top Canadian album based on “artistic merit” without consideration for genre or record sales.

The Long List, which contains 40 of the best records released between June 1, 2016 and May 31, 2017, the late Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker, Mac DeMarco’s This Old Dog alongside noted artists Drake, Carly Rae Jepsen, Feist and plenty more.

Ten albums will be announced for the Polaris Short List on July 13. The winner is revealed at the Polaris Gala on September 18.
