PJ Harvey teases new album and book: “I am committed”
PJ Harvey has announced that she is currently working on a new album and book.
In a reflective post shared on New Year’s Eve, the musician reflected on her 2025, writing, “2025 saw the end of the ‘I Inside the Old Year Dying’ tour in Australia and Japan in March.”
She continued, “The two-year tour was such a wonderful experience to have been a part of, and I hugely enjoyed being able bring the music to life in a shared experience.”
Looking towards the future, Harvey added, “Since then I have been writing songs for my next album and poems for my next book, which is a process that always surprises and challenges me, but one I realise I am committed to and love.”
The artist’s latest book was titled Orlam. Published in 2022, Harvey explored childhood, sexuality, and rural life in narrative poem form, mainly utilising the Dorset dialect.
Her last album was released in 2023, and was titled I Inside the Old Year Dying, which was her first album of new material in seven years since 2016’s Six Demolition Project.
Along with the new post, Harvey shared a playlist of songs that she found “inspiring and strengthening.” It includes songs from the likes of Robbie Basho, Nils Frahm, Laura Cannell, and Jed Kurzel.
In 2025, Harvey appeared on the ‘Los Angeles Rising’ wildfire relief benefit compilation album, using her artistry to raise funds for those who were displaced and injured by the Los Angeles fires.
Additionally, she joined a band of artists that called for the UK government to put a cap on secondary ticket prices.
In the open letter, the group of artists and organisations called on the government’s changes to “help fix elements of the extortionate and pernicious secondary ticketing market that serve the interests of touts, whose exploitative practices are preventing genuine fans from accessing the music, theatre and sports they love.”
