Pixies to return home for US tour to celebrate 40th anniversary
Pixies have announced they are set to head on a short run of tour dates in the US later this year.
The band are in the midst of celebrating their 40th anniversary as an outfit in 2026, and as such have revealed they are set to play a string of shows in their homeland of the US in September, following on from the conclusion of their tour of the UK and Europe.
Details emerged via the band’s website on March 24th, in which they will play six independent shows as well as make one festival appearance over the course of September 15th to September 26th.
As part of this, Pixies will visit Greenville in South Carolina, Wilmington in North Carolina, Louisville in Kentucky, Columbia in Missouri, Santa Fe in New Mexico, and Tucson in Arizona.
In addition, they are also set to play at the Borderland Music Festival in East Aurora, New York, on September 18th.
Although the band are not set to visit their native Boston, Massachusetts, before their US run they will head to the UK and Europe over May, June, and July, to pay homage to the musical landscape in which they first made their name.
For the UK and Ireland leg of the tour, Pixies will visit York, Dunfermline, Manchester, Limerick, and Dublin, with the highlight coming on May 28th with their first ever headline appearance at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London.
The band now consists of singer Black Francis, guitarist Joey Santiago, and drummer David Lovering, along with new bassist Emma Richardson, who still stand as a stalwart band of the 1990s alternative rock scene and a major influence on grunge icons such as Kurt Cobain.
Having then broken up in 1993, the band returned to form a decade later and have consistently released albums for the past 20 years, their most recent of which was The Night the Zombies Came, released as their ninth studio record in October 2024.
Tickets for Pixies’ US tour will go on general sale from March 27th, with various presales available from March 25th. However, tickets for Borderland Music Festival are available now.
