Pink Floyd have launched a new playlist titled, Syd, Roger, Richard, Nick and David – An Evolving Pink Floyd Playlist which includes a series of rarities and alternate versions of the band’s material.
The playlist was kicked off with ‘Us & Them (Live at The Empire Pool, Wembley, London 1974)’ which appeared on their 2011 Immersion Edition box set of The Dark Side of The Moon, the band plans to add a new track every day.
The band have also added the 2011 remastered version of ‘Green Is The Colour’, the 2001 remastered edition of ‘Bike’ and 2011’s remastered ‘Fearless’ to the playlist, which originally featured on their 1971 album Meddle.
Pink Floyd announced the series by tweeting: “Beginning today Syd, Roger, Richard, Nick and David is a new & evolving playlist from Pink Floyd. During this uncertain period, make time each day to immerse yourself in music; each day we will add a new track into the playlist.”
They also added: “We hope you enjoy reconnecting with these tracks over the coming weeks and would love to hear your suggestions for additions to the playlist…”
The announcement comes shortly after a very public reignition of Roger Waters’ feud with David Gilmour after he revealed he has no control over Pink Floyd’s social media accounts. “One and half million of you have viewed our new version of Mother, which is lovely – it really warms my heart,” Waters said in a video which was posted on social media.
“But it does bring up the question: Why is this video not available on a website that calls itself The Pink Floyd website? Well, the answer to that is because nothing from me is on the website – I am banned by David Gilmour from the website.”
