Phoebe Bridgers has labelled David Crosby a “little bitch” after he complained about her guitar-smashing antics during her performance on SNL.
Bridgers rolled through two blistering renditions from her wonderous latest record, Punisher, as she tore through singles ‘Kyoto’ and ‘I Know The End’ at 30 Rock. Bridgers’ rendition of ‘I Know The End’ captivated the audience and, somehow, managed to annoy Crosby. Supported by a seven-piece band, Bridgers lost herself in the moment and the unruly performance of the album closer resulted in sparks flying and a smashed-up guitar.
“Pathetic,” Crosby took to Twitter to write in a Q&A when a fan asked for his thoughts on the end to Bridgers’ performance. The 26-year-old singer then responded by simply writing, “little bitch”, which seemingly irritated Crosby even further.
After leaving it for a day, Crosby returned to the platform to post: “Guitars are for playing…making music,” e said, before adding that he does “not give a flying F if others have done it before… It’s still stupid.”
He has continued to rant incessantly on the topic, even posting a video of The Who destroying their instruments after a set and calling it “stupid dramatics”. Crosby then posted a picture of some acoustic guitars and lectured, “They are not toys…or props…we who’ve played them for our whole lives try to treat the with respect.”
Crosby’s ramble still wasn’t finished there, however. He slammed Bridgers’ set once again, ranting: “I am told that wasn’t a very good night for her and she’s really quite good…I could not see it or hear it then…the skeleton costumes were kind of distracting as well…the guitar thing was old, wrong, copy cat, looks angry, destructive, wasteful, pointless.”
“It’s what you do if you can’t write,” he then tweeted in response to a fan asking, “What is the point?” of smashing a guitar. Crosby also claimed it was a “poor substitute for talent,” and in another, he said: “I prefer people who can actually write songs.”
Bridgers has rather more on her plate at the moment and didn’t have the time to respond to every tweet that Crosby fired out slamming her, but, she did write “whiny bitch” underneath his tweet that stated, “I prefer people who can actually write songs”.
