Pedro Pascal considered for role in Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four’
The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal is in talks to play Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four.
The scheduling of the movie appears to be the only obstacle in Marvel getting the The Last of Us star to take on the job, but the talks remain ongoing. However, Marvel seems determined to capture the actor in their books.
If Pascal does take on the job, then it will serve as an uplift for Marvel, who’ve recently suffered a string of poorly-received movies. The actor is currently riding high following his role in the popular HBO series The Last of Us, which has a second season in production, as well as The Mandalorian.
Pascal is also set to star in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2, having already been cast in Wonderwoman 1984 and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Reed Richards, the leader of the Marvel superhero group, was played by Ioan Gruffudd in the two Fantastic Four movies in the mid-2000s, while both Miles Teller and John Krasinski have also portrayed him.
At this stage, the casting of The Invisible Woman, The Thing and The Human Torch are still unknown for the upcoming Fantastic Four film. Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer have written a version of the script, and Avatar: The Way of Water writer Josh Friedman is now working on the latest version.
Meanwhile, HBO boss Casey Bloys recently revealed the second season of The Last of Us will begin production in early 2024. The station’s CEO admitted the strikes caused a delay in the production schedule of the show but also explained that the setback means the second season will likely not arrive on screen until 2025.
