Pearl Jam to make live comeback at Ohana following Matt Cameron’s exit
Pearl Jam have confirmed their comeback to the live stage following the exit of their longstanding drummer, Matt Cameron, last year.
Cameron, who had served as the band’s drummer for 27 years, parted ways with the Seattle rockers last July in an amicable fashion, releasing a statement at the time thanking them and the fans for their contributions over his tenure.
Since then, the remaining members of Pearl Jam have fallen somewhat silent, but are now eyeing a live comeback at the Ohana Festival, co-founded by Eddie Vedder, in Dana Point, California, this September.
Announcing its wider line-up alongside the Pearl Jam slot on May 12th, the rest of the rock festival is set to see performances from the likes of Eddie Vedder and Friends, Tyler Childers, Alabama Shakes, Fontaines DC, Pixies, Rilo Kiley, Billy Idol, Jon Batiste, and Maná.
Although the band, which formed in 1990, have not played live since May 2025 and Cameron departed two months later, it was seemingly never in doubt that they would return to the stage at some point.
In March this year, Pearl Jam’s guitarist Mike McCready said the group were in their “slow phase”, following the conclusion of their tour for their most recent album Dark Matter, but were sure to hit the road again in time.
“It’s going to happen,” he said in an interview with Spin, “but I just don’t know when. I would also love to go out and tour this year sometime, but we don’t have anything planned.”
It seems like the band’s slot at Ohana festival could be the first step towards that, since Cameron later revealed his exit was due to the fact of him “having some issues with (Pearl Jam’s) three-hour shows and constant touring and stuff.”
It is not clear at this time whether Pearl Jam have hired a new, permanent drummer, or if they will play with a session musician at Ohana.
